If I were to be an animal, I would like to be a bald eagle because it represents a courageous warrior spirit. If the lion is the king of the jungle, I’d imagine that the bald eagle is the ruler of the sky. I can’t name another bird as brave as them, to conquer the highest mountain. Flying freely in the sky, the clouds is its playground.
Bald eagles are only found in North America and are diurnal. They have blackish-brown wings and body; a white head, neck and tail; and yellow feet, eyes and beak. An average female bald eagle is about 36 inches tall and is slightly larger than the male. They have a wingspan which varies from 79 to 90 inches and weigh from 10 to 14 pounds.
Bald eagles live along the coast of large bodies of open water such as lakes and rivers where they hunt for their food and nest in tall trees. Although they mainly eat fish, they also eat small animals such as ducks, turtles, rabbits, and snakes.
They return to their original nest to breed each year, which gets larger and heavier since they add another layer of nesting material.
Bald eagles will migrate depending on their location. If its territory has access to open water, it remains there all year-round. But if the body of water freezes in the winter causing it to be unable to get food, it migrates to the south.
Bald eagles do not sweat so they cool themselves by resting in the shade, panting, and holding their wings away from their body.
The average Bald eagle lives up to about forty-five to fifty years in captivity and twenty-five years in the wild. Bald eagles mate for life, but when one dies, the survivor will not hesitate to accept a new mate.
If I were a bald eagle for one day, I would fly to the highest point and look down at the world with my very own eyes; and I would fly to the farthest place and discover a new world. It’ll give me courage that life has no barriers.
